Jeff Wolfe

 
 

Jeff Wolfe is currently working as an adjunct professor of music at Marshall University, where he teaches Survey of Jazz, Jazz Styles, Music Technology I and II as well as leading a Jazz Improvisation Ensemble. He has also conducted the 12.1 Jazz Ensemble and taught Brass Techniques and Appreciation of Music.  Mr. Wolfe holds a MM in Jazz Studies from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he studied jazz improvisation, pedagogy, history, and composition with world-famous jazz educator and composer David Baker. During his time at IU Jeff was appointed Associate Instructor of Jazz Studies where he conducted one of the IU Jazz Ensembles and taught jazz improvisation. Mr. Wolfe also holds a BA in music education from Marshall University. Jeff is a former trumpet student of Edmund Cord, John Rommel, Pat Harbison and Dominic Spera. Apart from his duties at Marshall University, Jeff is also the director of the Renaissance Fine Arts School Youth Jazz Orchestra. Furthermore, he currently maintains a vibrant private trumpet and jazz improvisation studio, as well as being an active performer, adjudicator, and clinician. Jeff has also appeared on National Public Radio with the Johnny Nocturne Band from San Francisco, CA, Chris Vadala, and the Eugene Rousseau Big Band. Jeff has served as the musical director for the River Cities Jazz Ensemble, a brass instructor for the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, and an instructor for the Star of Indiana Beginning Band Program. Jeff is a charter member of the Jazz Education Network (JEN) and a member of the International Trumpet Guild. He currently resides in Scott Depot, WV with his wife, Beth and their dogs, Miles and Nica.
